Thanks to a wonderful donation and help from my agency I am sooooooo close to submitting to India in October! I've decided to launch the Selfie Blanket fundraiser a bit sooner than I originally planned because I want to get this fee covered ASAP. Check out the post at www.facebook.com/lovecrossesoceansIndia/ for more info and to purchase your square!
Paid the remaining balance of my homestudy this morning! Now the only fee left to pay my homestudy agency is for travel and I will be paying that at the end of June. Also due to a series of fortunate events my coordinating agency has made it much easier for me to pay my fees with them. Usually the next two fees would be due when my homestudy is approved and then when I have a referral. Instead they are allowing me to pay in installments. I'm still going to delay a bit for submitting to India because I'm afraid things will be too fast that I won't be able to keep up but it still saves me about 4 months! CRAZY! It's going to take a lot of hard work, and fundraising like crazy, but it will totally be worth it! Now I should have a match by Christmas :)
Yesterday and today I had my homestudy visits. This was the last thing I needed to do for my homestudy to be completed. Now I just need to wait until everything is written off and approved! I still need to save more money for the fees but will be there when I need them to be. Finishing this is the biggest step for the adoption in my opinion. Now I can relax a bit and the next steps will just be gathering paperwork, not intrusive questioning. So happy that it is done and can't wait to have approval :)
My home visits are scheduled! My agency received the rest of my homestudy paperwork on Friday and last night I got the call from the social worker to schedule the visits. We have booked them for next weekend! So excited! Can't believe after all this time I'm finally getting to complete such a huge milestone in the adoption. Every day really is one day closer now and I can't wait to finally see a picture of my daughter for the very first time.
My homestudy paperwork is now complete and I paid enough to schedule my home visits. I'm sending off the paperwork tomorrow during my lunch break so hopefully it will get there by Monday. On Monday I have my debrief for my psychological evaluation and Tuesday I'm in the same city as my agency so I will hand deliver them a copy of that. Fingers crossed now that I can schedule my visits for May and get them out of the way. I would love to have approval by the end of October (October is when I was approved for private adoption four years ago!) and then just have a few months to wait while I save to submit to India. Things are moving along, I'm so excited, and can't wait to see my little girl's face :)
My paperwork for my homestudy is almost complete! I can't believe it! I know a lot of this will be redone for my dossier but at least with my dossier I will know who my daughter is by then.
Here is a quick rundown of what I've recently finished and what remains:
Timeline for everything:
My tax refund wasn't as much as I originally had hoped but I was still lucky enough to make a partial payment towards my homestudy. I'm currently $500 short from being able to do my home visits so I will be paying that at the end of April. I have the $800 psychological assessment that I am also paying in March so without the tax refund I did get I wouldn't have been able to give the agency anything. I am so grateful that my starting fees are shrinking and I'm getting so close to having all my paperwork done! Here's what is left:
1. Alberta child intervention check (currently talking with worker trying to get it ASAP!) 2. Psychological assessment (first week of April!!!) 3. Medical clearance (next Thursday!) And then I'm DONE all my paperwork! YAY!!!!! Sending off some documents today so I have check them off my list, and so I don't lose them lol. Here is what is going out today:
BEING MAILED TODAY: - Police Clearance - Manitoba Child Registry Check - Training Journal - Tax Information - Financial Form WAITING TO COME IN: - Ontario Child Registry Check (was lost in the mail, being resent) - Alberta Child Registry Check (also MIA, STILL waiting to hear back) WHAT I NEED TO DO: - Psychological Assessment (Early April) - Medical Check (Early April) NEEDS TO BE PAID BEFORE HOME VISITS: - Approximately $800 for Psychological Assessment (Early April) - Approximately $60 for Medical Check (Early April) - $3,400 for Homestudy Fee (at least half needs to be paid before home visits, $2000 will be paid by the end of March) Super excited because I'm almost ready to start my homestudy! I just need a few more pieces of paperwork and then I can do my visits. I submitted my taxes online today and it looks like I'm getting a good refund back which means I can pay half the agency fee for my homestudy.
So here is an update of where I am at: DONE AND READY TO BE MAILED: - Police Clearance - Manitoba Child Registry Check - Training Journal - Tax Information WAITING TO COME IN: - Ontario Child Registry Check (was lost in the mail) - Alberta Child Registry Check (also MIA, waiting to hear back) WHAT I NEED TO DO: - Financial Form (going to be mailed in with last bundle) - Psychological Assessment (Early April) - Medical Check (Early April) NEEDS TO BE PAID BEFORE HOME VISITS: - Approximately $800 for Psychological Assessment (Early April) - Approximately $60 for Medical Check (Early April) - $4,200 for Homestudy Fee (at least half needs to be paid before home visits, which will be done as soon as I get my tax refund) |
