As I've said a million times before, I am not good at waiting. I need to always feel like I'm doing something, moving forward in some way. I need to feel like I'm making progress instead of just sitting around waiting for something to happen. Since with the adoption I don't have much of a choice for how fast things happen I'm trying to keep busy in different ways. I'll be starting a new job soon so that should help quite a bit. I have been working as a postpartum doula but because the hours and income are not stable enough for adoption I have to go back to a "normal" job. I'm still working on my schooling for my medical secretary diploma but due to financial restraints I'm only able to take two courses per term. This means that I won't be able to finish it until next December. Until then I recently got hired at a typical, boring job. It pays better than minimum wage, the hours are flexible enough to allow me to continue to go to the gym, there are benefits and vacation pay, plus there are opportunities for overtime and extra pay for working on holidays. It's definitely not the best case scenario but it's a lot better than other places. Right now it's a short term sacrifice to be able to bring my daughter home and have long term benefits. The other thing I'm doing that will keep me busy is focusing more on this blog and a new one. I LOVE being a postpartum doula and I'd hate to have that all just disappear. Instead I'm going to be starting a new blog reviewing pregnancy, birth, and parenting books. In January I hope to launch a new YouTube channel with videos on product reviews and information for new parents. I love teaching and learning new things, this will allow me to continue to do both while waiting for adoption. On this blog I'm hoping to post a book review every other Friday while still posting videos on my channel every Wednesday. The book reviews on this blog will be a mixture of fiction, vegan, minimalism, and life in general. Although this blog and my associated YouTube channel have the main theme of parenting I want to branch off so that the new one will be more formal and more educational. This will continue to be casual and more laid back. Thank you everyone for all your support since this blog was created way back in spring 2013 and then added the YouTube channel in December 2013. This journey has been a long one but I know we are in the home stretch now. It will take time to finally get her home but I know that there won't be anymore detours. It's just a matter of time, being patient, and keeping busy.
